Tried and Tested: Burger 360

My love for burgers is well-documented but being Ekta. A.A. (after allergies) makes it difficult to get my fix regularly. Nevertheless, there are some great options for those of us who are looking to go gluten-free or just avoid bread and carbs. I’ve mentioned the lettuce-wrapped burger from Elevation Burger but this review features a breadless burger-in-a-bowl concept from Burger 360.

Burger 360 is a 100% Emirati-owned concept that opened in December of 2012. They call themselves a “Boutique Burger Bar” thereby allowing patrons to customize their burger with a variety of toppings the best way they like it.  In case you need help, they have a variety of signature burgers to get you started. I went for a classic New Yorker, which consisted of cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, mustard, mayo and ketchup. However, I did take a twist on that by ordering the burger in a bowl without the bun. As a result I got this (healthy) beauty:

News: Chez Sushi Official Opening

Chez Sushi Dubai Review 1 300x300 News: Chez Sushi Official Opening

Confession before I start this post – I’m a faux sushi-holic.  Until 2009, I avoided sushi like the plague, until a friend introduced me to veggie rolls! Soon I was addicted to them as a quick lunch option in university.  Then one very busy day, I didn’t have time to wait for the custom veggie roll to be made and took a “risk” with a California roll. And slowly I began experimenting with more types of sushi and then sashimi.

Since I’m currently in Ekta A.A. mode, sashimi and sushi has become an important part of my diet. Unfortunately in Dubai, there aren’t many good options for “casual sushi” (though Zuma is an absolutely delightful indulgence). That’s why I was excited to spot the billboards for “Chez Sushi by Sho Cho“.

Chez Sushi is located in the brand new complex across from Safa Park in Jumeirah. It comes from the same owners of the renowned Sho Cho and my favorite bar Loca, both located in Dubai Marine Beach Resort.  On February 4th, thanks to Amy and Serene of Purple PR, I visited Chez Sushi for the official opening. Tried and Tested: Elevation Burger

Elevation Burger Dubai 6 Tried and Tested: Elevation BurgerAs mentioned before, I’m currently living in the era as Ekta A.A. and thereby have changed my diet significantly. While I generally do pretty well, on my cheat days I tend to crave one thing often – a nice juicy burger!

So when the folks at Elevation Burger invited me for the official opening, I made an exception and decided to head over for a weekday “cheat” to sample out their fare.

Cyber Monday – Evian Live Young Snap & Dine

Cyber Monday – Issue 6 - Evian Live Young Snap & Dine

So how many times have you used an iPhone app only to be rewarded with a 3-course dinner at a signature restaurant of a 3 Michelin starred chef? Well that is precisely what I got to do this weekend thanks to the Evian Live You Snap & Dine app.

The app is quite simple – all you need to do is snap a picture of the Evian logo (the geek in me loves how it automatically locks onto a logo) and you’ll be instantly find out if you’ve won a dinner at an exclusive restuarant – in this case a dinner at STAY.

STAY stands for “Simple Table Alléno Yannick” and is contemporary French dinner-only restaurant tucked away at the One&Only on the Palm Jumeirah. I was expecting a busy, over-formal interior but was pleasantly surprised by the spacious and tastefully decorated interiors.

Visit to…Asado Wine Club

I’m a woman of many vices. Food, perfumes, makeup, clothes and the spirits too! Thus when @chiragnd of Naihar Food Blog invited me to check out Asado’s Wine Club, I couldn’t say yes fast enough!

Asado is the Argentinean Grill at The Palace Hotel in Old Town and I have to admit is one of my favorite restaurants to visit in Downtown Dubai.

I first visited Asado a couple of years back for a company dinner and this ended up being the first time I had every tried a steak. Ever since then, I’ve developed a taste for medium-well steaks and a glass of red wine, preferably a Malbec.

As part of the session, we got to sample Asado’s Wine Club. As part of the wine club, you get to sample a four-course wine sammpling with accompaniments of cheese, fruit and bread along the way. Asado’s expert sommelier, Sarah Belanger, had selected a great selection for us.

What I loved the most about the wine club is I sampled wines I would normally never pick myself. I normally avoid champagnes and dessert wines but when paired with the right accompaniments, they grew on me.

I highly recommend an evening at the Wine Club if you are looking to do something a little different from the usual dinner/drinks or you are looking to learn more about wine. A note to the wise, have a light snack before you head over to keep you going through the four-courses of wine tasting.

Asado Restaurant is located in The Palace Hotel in Old Town Downtown Dubai. You can sample the Asado wine club at AED 220 per person. For more information/reservations, please call: + 971 4 428 7971 or email asado@thepalace-dubai.com.
