A few weeks ago I listed out a wish list of beauty brands that I hoped would be available in Dubai soon. One of those that narrowly missed that list was Bliss – and low and behold, Bliss launched in Dubai last week with a kiosk and mini-spa inside Debenhams, Mall of the Emirates.
Founded in 1996 in New York City, Bliss started as a spa that revolutionized the industry thanks to its super-effective services and fun, casual spa environment.
For someone like me who enjoys spa treatments but doesn’t have the time to plan and book an appointment, Bliss products are great. A favorite is the That’s Incredi-Peel glycolic resurfacing pads. I’ve mentioned the benefits of glycolic acid for much-ignored feet but I absolutely love this ingredient for the face too. One treatment with these pads and I feel my skin has a fresh new layer. I’m happy that I no longer need to order these from the United States and are available in Dubai at AED 225 for a box of 30 pads.
Other products worth checking out are the fatgirl range and the body butters. I have a few products in the testing pipeline and will definitely share the reviews once I’ve passed a judgement. For the Bliss Spa experience, you can also head over to their mini-spa inside Debenhams. They have a range of 20-minute treatments which include skincare, waxing and much more. Now you can get your shopping and beauty prepping done at the same time!
Bliss comes from the same group of companies that has other favorite brands like Elemis, Clarisonic and Dr. Sebagh. It’s owned by the Starwood Group so if you want to get the full Bliss Spa NYC-experience, head over to the W Hotel in Doha. I know I’m tempted to book a flight!
While I was complaining of certain beauty brands not being available locally, the fashion scene in Dubai is growing and there’s a new entrant to the malls – COS, i.e. Collection of Style officially opens its doors in Dubai this week.
COS is the more up-market cousin of Swedish brand H&M, which is famous for it’s trendy designs. I was invited to a press preview last week in the DIFC Art Village and got a glimpse at some of the pieces to be sold in Dubai.
The clothes were a breath of fresh air with the simple cuts and silhouettes that would work great for layering separates. Fabrics were breathable and will definitely work well with the humid and hot Dubai summers. COS will also finally bring some more shopping choices in the high-street category, priced similarly to the likes of Zara and Mango.
And men we have some great news for you too as COS will be debuting its full menswear line in Dubai as well. We spotted some great linen shirts and suits in fresh colors so do pay them a visit and change up your attire from the usual denim and black combinations.
The Dubai COS store will be located in Dubai Mall (Fashion Avenue near MAC, Starbucks) and will be its largest store and second store in the region after Kuwait and officially opens to the public on March 23rd. Don’t forget to share your purchases with us!
Time for another confession! During my teenage years, I had a bit of obsession for men’s colognes. Instead of buying myself a perfume, I’d sneak into my dad’s dresser and use up his bottle of Hugo Boss. And when he would wonder where his cologne had disappeared, I’d cheekily answer, “Cologne is made of alcohol – it probably evaporated!”
Thankfully I eventually discovered the lovely range of women’s perfumes as I grew up. However the men in my life will tell you that my favorite gift item is colognes – so that I can be surrounded by the scents I like!
So when the Al Tayer group sent me an invite for the launch of the latest men’s cologne from Salvatorre Ferragamo, Acqua Essenziale, I booked the event in my diary. After all, I’m a fan of their women’s perfume Signorina, which also launched in Dubai last year. Continue reading
Last week we broke the news that Laura Mercier products were finally available in Dubai and this week another popular brand launches in Dubai – Barry M.
Barry M is a popular UK cosmetic brand known for its range of colorful products. They will now be available in the UAE and across the Middle East at Boots.
One of the first things I plan on picking up are the gold foil polish which is famous among nail art addicts. They also have a large range of colorful mascaras and eyeliners. Drop a comment below if you have a Barry M favorite!

As much as I love Dubai, the lack of availability of all beauty brands. Last year, one of my favorites – Urban Decay – officially launched in Dubai, and this year, Laura Mercier makes its debut in Dubai.
My first instance with Laura Mercier was with its cult favorite Tinted Moisturizer. To-date, it remains one of my favorites giving the perfect balance of coverage and sheerness.
I also absolutely love their Caviar Stick which was suggested by my friend Siddhi. This is the perfect one-step tool for a smokey eye.
If you’re new to the brand, I also suggest checking out their primers, Secret Camouflage concealer kit and skincare line – all of which are great.
The products will exclusively be available at Bloomindale’s. While we don’t have an official launch date yet, they should be available this September.
Now I just can’t wait for brands like Tarte, OCC and Nars to be available here for all us beauty addicts.
