Loving Her Look: Aishwarya Rai

You would think that being the most beautiful woman in the world wouldn’t have any issues with her red carpet outfits. Nevertheless, Aishwarya Rai has had a tough few months with the media making a big fuss over her post-preganancy figure.

Unlike most celebrities, Aishwarya hasn’t made a significant effort to lose the baby weight rapidly. Admittedly she’s curvier than her pre-baby days, but she looks absolutely stunning in this Sabyasachi Mukherjee creation at the Bulgari event in London.

The long white skirt along with the gold applique work is absolute perfection and reiterates that I need a Sabyasachi piece in my wardrobe immediately! The styling and cut is also much more flattering than her outfit at Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla Cannes this year.

While the glamour quotient on the IIFAs was lower (no Kareena, Deepika, Katrina), one upcoming star did capture our attention – Kalki Koechlin.

Loving Her Look: Sridevi

s10 Loving Her Look: SrideviI love the yesteryear Bollywood actresses – Karisma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit and of course Sridevi.  It’s especially exciting to see that all of them are returning back to the silver screen in central roles. This of course means a lot more sightings of these superstars on the red carpet and other Bollywood events.

This week we can’t help but gush over over how gorgeous Sridevi looks in this Manish Malhotra saree.

While white is always classy, we love the red ombre twist on this creation which makes it very on trend this season. The lace applique is perfectly enhanced by the boat neck lace top. Even the styling is perfect with the silver clutch and the ruby chandelier earrings and of course that megawatt smile. Unfortunately, she does look a little pale but we’ll blame that to an exhausting lifestyle and poor lighting.

You know it’s a Big Fat Indian wedding when…

This winter I was lucky enough to attend two big fat Indian weddings. After 9 days of back-to-back wedding events, I had worn enough eyeliner to deserve a MAC endorsement deal and had experienced plenty of Indian stereotypes.

So as a sequel to You know it’s a brown event when…, I bring to you:

You know it’s a Big Fat Indian wedding when…

  • The groom arrives to his reception after some of the guests have already left and everyone is always running late.
  • You leave the wedding with more cash and a heavier suitcase than when you arrived.
  • You dance to Chammak Chalo (or that year’s IT Bollywood number) at least 20 times during the week of festivities, yet you get excited each time it plays.
  • More Johnny Walker’s Black Label is consumed than mineral water.
  • No matter how much of Delhi Belly you may be suffering from, you can’t resist that second helping of kulfi falooda.
  • Either you get fixed up or you help someone else get fixed up because one wedding should lead to many more.

I’m sure there are many more so feel free to share but this was my officially way of wishing a happily married life to Mr. & Mrs. Khosla and Mr. & Mrs. Jagtiani!

Event Alert: Label 24 Fashion Show

If you’ve been following my tweets, you know that I’m super excited about my upcoming vacation to India.  Not only am I going back to the motherland after 6 years, but also I’m attending TWO weddings of some fabulous friends.

As with any Indian wedding, the past month has been consumed with picking up flashy outfits to wear.  One of the stores that really helped me out in Dubai was Label 24. This boutique located in Meena Bazaar in Bur Dubai is essentially the Saks 5th Avenue for Indian designers where you can find designers such as Satya Paul, Rocky S and Neeta Lulla under one roof.
