On the Shopping List: Banana Republic SS 2014

When Banana Republic asks you to experience a “True California Dream”, you just don’t say no. And so I set off to the Montgomerie Golf Club in Emirates Hills last week to check out the Banana Republic Spring-Summer 2014 collection.

Anytime California is mentioned, I get nostalgic. After all, I spent four of my most formative years in Cali. When I think of California fashion, I think neutrals & brights paired with simple cuts and the Banana Republic SS 2014 collection is just that – a fresh update to classic American sportswear.

My first stop at Banana Republic are always the dresses. My Issa BR dress is my go-to-dress for any event – day or night and my L’Wren Scott dress got me a bunch of compliments the first time I wore it. The Spring/Summer 2014 collection features floral and color-blocked dresses with fitted cuts that can work for both office and play. Also spotted were some gorgeous printed and sequined skirts. And as always, the fabric quality of Banana Republic is absolutely stellar so you’ll be wearing these for many seasons to come.

Banana Republic SS 2014 is also great for work separates. I loved the printed pants and the neutral tops that will work well with the Dubai summers and office indoor winters. Plus NYFW has shown that neutral is “the” color of the season so hop on the trend now.

Banana Republic is also a favorite of mine for menswear. So if you’re trying to spruce up the boy for a Valentine’s Day date night, send him off to Banana Republic for a pair of crisp chinos, linen shirt and fitted jacket. He’ll look like the perfect mix of LA beach boy and SF tech entrepreneur (at least with a bit of our imagination!)

The new collection is now available in stores. Head over to Dubai Mall to get your spring wardrobe refresh. And check out the Facebook page for some shots of the event featuring some furry, 4-legged models! I have only one request to Banana Republic, open up a new branch in a mall closer to me! After all, Dubai could use more of Banana Republic!
