Let’s start this post by playing one of the question games. Like if you could be of any other ethnicity, what would you be? I can answer that question in a heartbeat – I’d love to be a French mademoiselle! While I enjoy being Indian – our genes give us a relatively nice skin without acne/sun sensitivity/wrinkle issues and my coloring allows me to play with almost any color on the spectrum, French women are blessed. You’ll rarely find an overweight French woman and they always look 100% put together.
One of my close friends is French and last year I went to France to attend a wedding. What I noticed about her and all the other French women is that they don’t depend on makeup for their everyday gorgeousness but take really good care of their diet and skin. And if you pop into any of their pharmacies you’ll see some the most highly rated beauty brands including Bioderma, Vichy, La Roche-Posay, Avène and of course Caudalie. And we’ve been lucky in Dubai with Caudalie recently launching here where it is exclusive to Bin Sina pharmacies at the moment.
The first product I decided to test out was their much-loved Caudalie Beauty Elixir. This facial mist is a celebrity favorite of Liv Tyler, Karlie Kloss and numerous other French women. The water mixture contains essences of grape, orange blossom, rose, balm mint and rosemary. It comes in 2 sizes (full and travel size) of a glass spray bottle that you just mist across the face as needed.
I mainly use this in between face washings when I feel my face needs a dose of hydration. I also usually spray this in the night after cleansing and before I apply my serum for an extra kick. Another use is post-makeup application to give a dewy, natural finish. If I have an evening event and no time to redo my makeup, I just spray my face with this and it automatically revives my makeup.
On a negative point, the spray has a rather strong minty smell. The first time I applied it, I was really surprised and even now, a few months after use, I always worry about blinding myself with it. Additionally, it is just a facial mist so the effects are limited compared to a face mask or moisturizer. And consider how much it retails for in Dubai, it is a steep price for some “special” water.
That being said, I think facial mists are extremely underrated parts of our beauty routines and making the Beauty Elixir a consistent part of your day will pay off in results. My skin looks more even and my pores are considerably smaller after using this over the past few months so it’s a definite recommendation from my side. And I’m off for a another mist!
