Manicure of the Week: NARS Pierre Hardy Vertebra

I’m not sure how or why but I’ve been chatting to people offline about my blog more often these days. They often ask what do I write about, which has made me realize what I don’t write about enough – specifically makeup and nails. The content mostly centers around skincare and fashion but what I really know is makeup and nails. If you have a look at my Instagram, it mostly features glimpses of my #notd posts or my beauty hauls from Harvey Nichols or Sephora. So I’m going to make an effort of detailing that here on the blog.

One of my weekend rituals is to do my nails. Over the years I’ve become quite good at it and prefer doing them at home instead of a salon, and this has fueled my obsession to grow my nail polish collection. This week I decided to pick out two polishes I’ve owned since July 2013 but haven’t used yet – the NARS Pierre Hardy set in Vertebra.


The collection came out in April in the US and based on swatches I really wanted to get at least one of the sets; and I was rewarded when I found some at a Sephora counter in Paris. They were running low on stocks but the Vertebra set appealed to me since I love coral and the beige-rose was a color that I didn’t have in my stash.

I like NARS nail polishes – the formula is thin and applies easily yet the polish is always pigmented so 1-2 coats is all you need. The Vertebra collection was no different with it applying flawlessly. The coral color is easily replicated but the beige-rose is unique – it has tones of pink in the day and more purple at night. And while doing a coral accent nail wouldn’t normally be how I pair this, it is a unique yet work-friendly combo.
