Review: Jergens Soft Body Cream

Jergens Soft Body Cream Hydrating Coconut MilkIt’s no surprise that I’m a beauty product hoarder. On my vanity you’ll easily find multiple face creams, hair products and perfumes. But if there’s one product I’ve never been hooked onto, it is body lotion. Somehow the concept of spending 10 minutes moisturizing and then another 10 minutes to absorb before getting dressed isn’t something I have the patience for. Instead I generally stick to using baby oil in the shower or a bit of dry Argan oil in case my skin is really desperate.

As a result of being so lax with moisturizing, my arms look dull and are often dry. But with no lotion “feeling right” I stick to my normal routine until I sampled the new Jergens Soft Body Cream range. It is available in 4 different formulas:

  • Enriching Shea Butter
  • Softening Musk
  • Hydrating Coconut Milk
  • Soothing Aloe Vera

I couldn’t decide which one to start testing first, but eventually settled on Coconut Milk since I loved the scent. And while the scents differ, the formulas are also slightly different with different objectives and levels of hydration. My review here is based solely on the Coconut Milk formula.

The first thing I noticed about the product was how light the texture was making it a cinch to apply. The light texture also meant that it was easily absorbed within a few minutes. After application, I noticed my skin immediately looked and felt moisturized – and no greasy after effect but hydrated skin.

I used to adore the Jergens Natural Glow line (a gradual self-tanning moisturizer) while living in the US and had ignored the brand since moving back to Dubai. But they’ve proven with this latest launch that they really understand moisturizing needs. I’ve been testing the product for more than 2 months now and am still using it 3-4 times a week. If a product can make me moisturize, it’s definitely a stand out!

I tested out the product in its 100 ml tube format that retails in Dubai for AED 9.75, while it also comes in a 250 ml jar form for AED 13.90. I personally prefer the tube format that keeps the product hygienic and can easily be tossed into your handbag or gym bag.  For the international readers, a similar Jergens products is available under the name of Jergens Crema but I can’t confirm if it is the exact same formulation. However, it is available in the Shea Butter, Coconut Milk and Aloe Vera scents.
