Review: Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque

I’m definitely obsessed with makeup and beauty products but if there is one thing I’m more obsessed with, it’s taking care of my skin. One thing I’ve learned over the years, no matter how amazing your products or your makeup application skills, it cannot hide a bad complexion or lack of sleep.

Every weekend or prior to a big event, I try to make time for some extra TLC with a face mask (currently I’m loving the GlamGlow Mud Mask!) However, these are usually things I need to plan in advance. What to do when you only have 10 extra minutes and need to make the best of it? Enter the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque.

While most masks are used independently or pre-cleansing, Dermalogica’s Skin Hydrating Masque is unique as it is meant to be used as a post-cleansing treatment.  With “masque” in its description, I expected a thick or potent formula. However, the texture of this was a gel/milky texture that was extremely easy to handle and extremely soothing on my skin.

After freshly cleansing my face, I took about a dirham/quarter-sized amount and applied it all across my face and neck. The result will be a shiny layer of product over your face. After letting it absorb for 10 minutes, I rinse my face off and voila – like the name says – a completely hydrated complexion that is glowing of freshness. In fact my skin is so moisturized, I can avoid the moisturizer and dive into makeup application directly.

Upon closer inspection, I realized this product has one of my miracle ingredients – Hyaluronic Acid – which is also a part of a serum I love. If you suffer from dry/dull skin, definitely give this active ingredient a try as it leaves your skin fresh and hydrated.

I’m fairly new to the Dermalogica brand but this is the second product I’m trying out from them and I love it as much, if not more than their exfoliator. I highly recommend adding this to your beauty routine, especially as the social calendars fill up the latter half of this year and your skin needs an extra boost before a night out!
