Review: Davines Oi / Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion

davinesWe’re in full humidity season in Dubai so all you curly-haired women are suffering with me.  During the summer, I often find the only way to deal with my hair is straightening it or tying it up in a bird’s nest. So what can you do to prevent immediate frizzing after being outside for 5 minutes?

Sometimes all you need is the right styling product and that is where Davines Oi / Oil comes into play. Described by the brand as an “Absolute Beautifying Potion” prevents frizzing and is great for finishing off a hairstyle. The main ingredients of this product are breathable silicones that create a protective film on your hair and roucou oil that provide an anti-aging, anti-oxidant relief.

While silicones have gotten a bad rep as an ingredient, there isn’t anything that can combat humidity better than this. I use this product in 2 ways. First, 2-3 pumps in my hair while it is damp to prevent frizzing and then style as usual with my straightener. Alternately, if I’m wearing my hair curly, I apply a small squeeze to freshen up my waves in the morning. Unlike other synthetic oils, this one doesn’t build up in my hair and require more frequent washes. And in case you use curling products like mousse or gel, this works in tandem with it.

What I love about this product is it adds shine to my hair and the sweet scent can get rid of any residual smells to delay the next shampoo. I also love how it is a multi-purpose oil which means while traveling, I can skip packing a heat-protectant or finishing spray. If you’re looking for a universal styling product for unruly hair, check out Davines Oi/Oil – you won’t regret it!
