Review: Lush Hair Moisturizer – H’Suan Wen Hua

Review-Lush-Hair-Moisturizer-H'Suan-Wen Hua-3It’s almost the end of May which means the Dubai summer is here in full force. Unfortunately with the endless sunshine, heat and continuous exposure to air conditioning, our body, skin and most importantly hair goes for a toss. For someone with long, dry and wavy hair, the summer means a big frizzy mess. Thankfully, there is a Lush product to make summer hair more manageable.

Lush H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Moisturizer is a mouthful to say but then again they’ve managed to blend together a bunch of amazing ingredients to make this product:

  • For extra protein for strength: eggs, soya lecithin, olive oil
  • For extreme shine: bay and watercress infusions, balsamic vinegar, rosemary oil
  • For moisture: lanolin, bananas, avocados
  • For antiseptic properties: cinnamon leaf oil

The product comes in a jar and looks like a regular body moisturizer. The best way to use it is to first comb your hair to remove knots and then liberally apply it to the scalp and lengths, focusing on the ends. Put your hair up and let it absorb for at least 20 minutes (in the meanwhile I suggest pampering yourself with a Lush Fresh Face Mask). Then shampoo as usual though I recommend using an organic shampoo (like Davines) to avoid stripping away the nutrients you just added. Depending on the state of your hair, you can skip conditioner completely and just add a few a drops of Kiehl’s Argan Oil to towel-dried hair.

After the first use itself, you’ll notice your hair is visibly moisturized but the full effect will come after 4-6 weeks of continuous usage. What stops me short of calling this a miracle product is that the effect goes away quickly once you stop using the product. So if you’re looking for a semi-permanent effect, its best to try out a synthetic treatment like Kérastase or similar.

That being said, H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Moisturizer is yet another Lush product I’m going to be stocking in my haircare kit for a long time. After all, H’Suan Wen Hua is Cantonese for “The God of Hair” and in the summers of Dubai, sometimes your hair really needs divine intervention.
