Event Alert: Jumeirah Restaurant Week

If there is one thing that I love about Dubai in recent years, it’s the rapid expansion of the food scene. Dubai is home to some great international restaurants (think Nobu or Zuma) as well as smaller, but just as good hole-in-the-wall joints. Last year Dubai got it’s very own Restaurant Week thanks to the folks at Jumeirah!

For those uninitiated to Restaurant Week, it’s is a popular concept in cities like LA and NYC. Throughout this week, selected restaurants setup a prix fixe (fixed price) menus for lunch and dinner. It allows diners to try out expensive, never-visited restaurants at a reasonable prices. Restaurants can take this as an opportunity to showcase house favorites and win over more regulars for the next year.

In Dubai, we have Jumeirah Restaurant Week, which means the event is limited to Jumeirah’s restaurants but with properties that include Madinat Jumeirah, Zabeel Saray, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Emirates Towers, there’s plenty of choice. This year’s Jumeirah Restaurant Week goes from May 23 to June 1. Pricing is set at AED 180 per head for Signature dining restaurants and AED 120 for Casual dining restaurants. While alcohol isn’t included in these prices, there are often drink selections suggested alongside the Restaurant Week menu. And for those with allergies, gluten-free menus are available upon request!

Last year I checked out La Parilla at JBH and MJ’s Steakhouse at Madinat Jumeirah. And here are my initial recommendations of what to check out this year.

  • Amala, Voi at Zabeel Saray
  • The Rib Room, Tokyo@TheTowers at Emirates Towers
  • Pai Thai, Zheng He’s at Madinat Jumeirah

For fellow foodies, this event ranks up there with Taste of Dubai for must-try events of the year. And if it’s anything like last year, I recommend you book early to ensure you can visit the restaurants of your choice!

P.S. If you’re based in London, Jumeirah is doing Restaurant Week there as well!
