Red Carpet Coverage: Stardust Awards 2013

Another major Bollywood Awards Night took place this past week – the Stardust Awards 2013. Again we were let down by the lack of major stars. What’s going on with Bollywood this year? I can normally pick out the best and worst dressed off of any red carpet but this one was so “blah.” Let’s see if you agree.

Starting out with the neutrals. Sophie Chaudhray looks very pageanty while Alia Bhatt opted for a simple gown. Considering she’s only 19, I wish she’d take some fashion risks and go for something bright and short. Rageshwari won this round with her body-fitting halter gown – wish I could see a photo of the back detail.

Not many sarees spotted at this event but of course Vidya Balan came in her trademark Sabyasachi – not her best but not bad at all. Mini Mathur looks very fresh, thanks to the gorgeous cobalt blue saree and top-notch makeup. Definitely a pleasant surprise.

A few ladies decided to take risks with plunging necklines. While Mughda Godse was on the right side of sexy, Monica Dogre tried to pull off the JLo look with a navel baring gown.

The most popular ladies on the red carpet stuck to safer colors of navy and black. Anushka in Armani and Priyanka in Rag & Bone lead the best-dressed pack but we know these ladies can do better with more interesting style choices. Sonakshi looks great thanks to fabulous makeup but she should go for gowns that enhance her shape instead of making her look broader.

FInally a few ladies decided to experiment with color. I love all the citrusy colors as worn by Shahzahn, Bipasha and Jiah but I think Bipasha’s chartreuse gown wins. Unfortunately her styling is off the mark otherwise this would have been a winning look.

Awards season is going by quickly so we hope Bollywood steps it up at the upcoming events, especially the always glamorous IIFA Awards.
