With sequels becoming popular in Bollywood, this year will see the release of a prequel to the 2007 hit, Shootout at Lokhandwala. Starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Tushaar Kapoor, Sonu Sood, and Manoj Bajpai, Shootout at Wadala features a revamped starcast but retains director Sanjay Gupta.
Based on the book “Dongri to Dubai – Six Decades of The Mumbai Mafia”, it is the story of the first registered police encounter in Mumbai and sheds light on the Bombay underworld scene, including the dreaded Dawood Ibrahim.
While I’m not usually a fan of violence-heavy Bollywood films, John Abraham seems to have done a brilliant job playing his character Manya Surve and seems to be turning into a serious actor with each film. Shootout at Wadala releases on May 1, 2013 but in the meanwhile, you can John in Race 2, which releases this coming weekend.
