38-year-old Akhtar started his career as a director with the cult hit, Dil Chahta Hai. After that, he directed several successful films including Lakshya and both installments of the Don series. In 2008, he made his debut as an actor with Rock On!! but it was 2011’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara that expanded his fan club.
Now he’s back in the actor’s seat with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. This film is interesting for two reasons. First, it’s Mehra’s latest directorial venture after critically acclaimed films like Rang De Basanti and Dehli-6. Second, it’s a sports movie based on the actual life of the Indian runner, Milkha Singh, also known as the The Flying Sikh.
In case you watched the video (or fast-forward to 0:53), you can see that Farhan Akhtar has worked very hard on his physique for this role. Even one more reason to catch this film in the theatres.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and stars Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor. It releases on July 12, 2013.
