Cyber Monday – Souq Fashion

The term Cyber Monday was coined to mark the Monday after Black Friday that companies used to encourage people to shop online.  Our Cyber Monday column here will highlight spectacular online finds, blogs we love or just our general love for all things digital. If you have a recommendation for Cyber Monday, let us know!

Cyber Monday – Issue 10 – Souq Fashion

I, Ekta, am an OS – online shopaholic.  As much as I love the malls, I much prefer to do my shopping online, especially in Dubai.  Hence why I use and abuse my Shop’n’Ship account, as well as have regular deliveries from international sites like Gilt, Boticca and Asos.

In the recent years, online shopping in the Middle East has taken off with a lot of local and international players, especially in the fashion segment. MyWardrobe had a special launch party in Dubai a few months back, Namshi has been operating since January and now Souq.com has launched Souq Fashion.

Souq Fashion’s tagline is simple – “Spotted on the red carpet, bought on Souq Fashion.” Thus, their focus is on trendy, ready-to-wear, known designers. A browse through their website shows top brands such as Fendi, Dolce&Gabanna, and Tory Burch amongst others. During their launch party at DIFC Gate, I spotted some cute outfits worn by the team behind Souq Fashion.

While the range isn’t exhaustive like Net-a-porter, it shows quite a bit of promise, especially with the “Ask the Stylist” segment. They’ve partnered with celebrity stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, who have dressed the likes of J.Lo, Rihanna, and Gwen Stefani.  It also hosts a dedicated section for Arab Designers, with Marena y Sol’s creations being my favorite.

So ladies, go ahead and bookmark Souq Fashion – worth a check when doing your next round of 3 am shopping!
