Review: Davines Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner

I love my weekends. Reading books, watching too much TV and then of course some beauty pampering. I set aside Saturday’s to indulge in my regular TLC routines. One of these consists of whipping up home remedies including yoghurt and honey masks.

I have a theory that if you are using an organic remedy, for best results use a mild organic shampoo. I hadn’t found a good organic shampoo so was using good old baby shampoo, until Davines sent across a few products for testing.

Davines is an Italian brand with a focus on sustainable beauty. Knowing that Italian women are known for their beauty, I set out to trying the brand.

For the past 4 weeks, I’ve been using the Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner once a week, while using my regular Redken Shampoo and Conditioner for in-between washes. And I could easily see the results.

While Redken was great at cleansing and removing all traces of residue, it felt like it was stripping the moisture off too. Even with the conditioner follow-up, I need a good dosage of my trusty Kiehl’s Argan Oil post-wash to give it a shine.

On the other hand, Davines Shampoo didn’t foam up as easily so I had to do a repeat application to make sure to get my scalp clean. The conditioner was denser, so it coated by hair easily. After towel drying my hair, I noticed that my waves were less frizzy than usual and I didn’t need any styling products right away.

While I don’t think I’ll be giving up my salon-range products, I will be giving my hair a break by replenishing my supply of Davines products. And I think it’ll be a hit with my mom who loves everything organic as well. If you’re looking for a more natural range of products, do check out Davines.
