Tuesday Tip – Issue 10 – Manic Mani/Pedi

Apologies for missing out on last week’s Tuesday Tip. I got too caught up in birthday celebrations to leave aside time for blogging, but it did give me an inspiration for this week’s Tuesday Tip!

Considering that I left work early on Thursday and had plenty of time to get ready, 5 minutes before I had to leave the house for my party I realized that I had forgotten to give myself a manicure and pedicure. And how could I let myself leave the house with non-glam hands and toes?

Learning from past mistakes I knew that painting my nails before going out was a bad idea, so I decided to play off my natural nails.  I filed and buffed out any anomalies and then grabbed my Body Shop cuticle oil pen to add some shine.  Thanks to adding Omegas 3,6,9 supplements to my diet, my natural nails are strong and white, and the cuticle oil made my hands look like they had a French manicure.

The feet were another story.  Thanks to intense gym workouts and dark polishes, my toe nails were too shy to go bare.  Instead of hunkering down to paint all 10 toes, I first put on my heels to figure out which nails would be exposed; turned out it was only the first three.  I also skipped the normal dark red crème and opted for a funky glittery nailpolish.  The great thing about glitters is that it makes it much harder to notice a rushed polish job, so I always keep a bottle of silver glitter (try RBL’s Frugalista) and gold glitter (try Deborah Lippmann’s Superstar) polish for when I’m in a rush.

So next time you are running late, go glam but with a shortcut!

Polish swatches aren’t mine. They are by the fabulous Michelle Mismas at All Lacquered Up!

  1. Great tips! I’m definitely going to buy that cuticle oil from The Body Shop (I have one but it’s in a polish-like bottle; the pen looks more convenient). When I’m in a rush, I paint my nails with a glitter coat or a nude color, and i also have the Essie good to go polish for quick dry.

  2. OMG! LOVE this tip and that purple glittery shade is brilliant. Is it an actual purple nail shade topped up with purple glitter? Or is it an actual 2-in-1 polish? I remember you had given the RBL purple glitter to me to try out but it wasn’t the same. And that Body Shop’s pen looks like a great idea.
Lately, I’ve been frequenting The Nail Spa at Dubai Mall. I like that place and the collection of shades they’ve got.

    1. It’s actually the same shade that you tested out. I think it just takes a little more effort to get that foil-effect finish.
