Event Alert: Jumeirah Restaurant Week

jumeirah restaurant week 2013 Event Alert: Jumeirah Restaurant Week

If there is one thing that I love about Dubai in recent years, it’s the rapid expansion of the food scene. Dubai is home to some great international restaurants (think Nobu or Zuma) as well as smaller, but just as good hole-in-the-wall joints. Last year Dubai got it’s very own Restaurant Week thanks to the folks at Jumeirah!

For those uninitiated to Restaurant Week, it’s is a popular concept in cities like LA and NYC. Throughout this week, selected restaurants setup a prix fixe (fixed price) menus for lunch and dinner. It allows diners to try out expensive, never-visited restaurants at a reasonable prices. Restaurants can take this as an opportunity to showcase house favorites and win over more regulars for the next year. Continue reading

TGIT: baby&me with Evian

Thank god its Thursday A.K.A. TGIT – that means the weekend is just around the corner! And we bring you a little sugar or spice to kickstart that weekend!

There are certain brands you remain loyal to and form a solid connection with. One of those brands for me is Evian.  I can’t explain what exactly it is, but something about the brand seems comfortable and familiar. And the brand itself has been very supportive of this blog through the Snap & Dine campaign, as well as the DVF Valentine’s Day giveaway.

The Evian marketing team is especially brilliant with the use of babies throughout their Live Young campaign. Years ago, they created the first “viral” roller babies video and I think the latest video, baby&me, is going to surpass its popularity.

Hope that brought a smile to your face and I’m sure you’ll smile again next time you see an Evian bottle. Happy weekend!

Preview: Samsung Galaxy S4

Fact: I’m a major Apple fan. My iPhone is glued to me almost 24/7, and while I don’t hate BlackBerry yet it remains my secondary/work phone, there is no way I’d be able to give up my iPhone. Or could I?

A few weeks ago I headed over to the sneak preview of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in Dubai, which is being touted as the best Android phone on the market (and declared so by Mashable). The techie and gadget addict in me was curious and who doesn’t like getting the early scoop?  Here are the highlights of the event courtesy my Twitter account (follow me @dollz87) and my unfiltered Tweet-thoughts: Continue reading

DD Creams are Here

I’ve recently tried out a few BB creams (really loving Kiehl’s and Philosophy) and was just thinking of replacing the usual tinted moisturizer with them. However the beauty industry is moving at breakneck speed with counters full of CC and even DD creams! I’m guessing you’re looking for clarification as well so here’s a summary to understand the difference between primer, tinted moisturizer BB, CC and DD creams.

Primer

Music Monday: Priyanka Chopra vs Sunny Leone

One of the first big releases from Bollywood in the upcoming summer season is Shootout at Wadala, which first caught my attention because of John Abraham’s gritty turn as a Hindu gangster. Now there are 2 item songs from this film which are dominating radio airwaves. The first one stars Priyanka Chopra as Babli Badmaash.

And the second one features Sunny Leone as Laila.

Now if I hadn’t seen the videos, I would have guessed that Priyanka’s song would be the better one but there’s something that Sunny Leone has that gives her the edge. Perhaps being new on the item song scene makes her win this round? So tell us who’s item song you prefer.
